The effect of the Lidannidine HCI in acute and chronic diarrhea

Abstract
The therapeutic efficacy of Lidamidine HCI was evaluated in 31 cases in and out patients with acute (21 cases) or chronic diarrhea (10cases). We compared the effects on Lidamidine HCI treatment group and placebo group suffered from acute or chronic diarrhea.
The results obtained were summarized as follows;
1. The treatment group had improved all of 15cases (100%) in acute diarrhea and 4 out of 6 cases (67%) in chronic diarrhea, but the placebo group had improved 2 out of 6 cases (33%) in acute diarrhea and 1 out of 4 cases (25%) in chronic diarrhea.
Therefore the treatment group in acute and chronic diarrhea had improved 19 patients of 21 patients (90%).
2. The duration between initiating symptoms and relieving symptoms in treatment group was 1.1 days in acute diarrhea and 3.5 days in chronic diarrhea.
3. There was no significant untoward effect and liver function, but abdominal distention and borborygmi in 3 of 15 cases in acute diarrhea patients.
In conclusion Lidamidine HCl appears to be a rapid, safe and effective agent for treating the diarrhea.
